On Thursday (August 14), Megadeth took to social media to announce that they will release their final studio album in 2026, accompanied by a global farewell tour, with the first single dropping this fall and pre-orders starting September 27. “There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,” frontman Dave Mustaine stated in a press release. “Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it’s our last studio album. I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years.” The final album will be released through Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint, and he also revealed plans to publish a memoir next year.
