BRISTOL MAN SENTENCED FOR METH

A BRISTOL TENNESSEE MAN HAS BEEN HANDED A 264 MONTH SENTENCE ON METH CHARGES.  40-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL SHANE MOORE WAS ARRESTED AFTER POLICE FOUND A STOLEN VEHICLE AT A MOTEL.  OFFICERS SAW MOORE COME OUT OF A ROOM AND GET INTO THE VEHICLE.  HE WAS DETAINED AND FOUND WITH 95 GRAMS OF METH, OVER $1500 IN CASH AND A PISTOL.  MOORE WAS ALSO FOUND TO BE A CAREER OFFENDER.

BRISTOL TN SEEKS TO EXTEND PINNACLE PARKWAY

BRISTOL TENNESSEE OFFICIALS WANT TO EXTEND THE PINNACLE PARKWAY.  THE PLAN IS TO EXTEND THE ROAD TO THE INTERSECTION OF WALNUT HILL AND ISLAND ROADS WITH THE GOAL TO ALLEVIATE TRAFFIC CONGESTION AT THE EXIT 74 AREA OF INTERSTATE 81.  CITY COUNCIL HAS APPROVED APPLYING FOR A STATE GRANT.  IF APPROVED, THE GRANT WOULD COVER 100-PERCENT OF CONSTRUCTION COSTS AND 50-PERCENT OF RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION.

ARGUMENT TURNS VIOLENT, WOMAN CHARGED

AN ARGUMENT TURNED VIOLENT TUESDAY IN ABINGDON VIRGINIA.  POLICE SAY TWO PEOPLE WERE VACUUMING A CAR AT 930 WEST MAIN STREET WHEN A WOMAN IS ALLEGED TO HAVE STRUCK THE VICTIM WITH THE VEHICLE BEFORE FLEEING.  AMBER LAWS FACES SEVERAL CHARGES, INCLUDING AGGRAVATED MALICIOUS WOUNDING AND DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND BATTERY. THE VICTIM WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL AND INJURIES AREN’T KNOWN.  LAWS IS HELD IN THE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA REGIONAL JAIL.  

KINGSPORT WOMAN CHARGED WITH STEALING FROM STORE

A KINGSPORT WOMAN IS FACING CHARGES, AFTER JOHNSON CITY POLICE RESPONDED TO A CALL IN REFERENCE TO PEOPLE SHOPLIFTING AT WALMART ON BROWNS MILL ROAD. CARRIE WITT WAS FOUND TO HAVE CONCEALED ABOUT 51 DOLLARS OF WALMART PROPERTY, AND HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY TRESPASSED FROM WALMART. SHE WAS JAILED ON 2,000 DOLLAR BOND, AND IS SCHEDULED FOR ARRAIGNMENT THIS AFTERNOON.

STUDENTS BEING MOVED AFTER FIRE TO CONTINUE LEARNING

PLANS ARE UNDERWAY TO RELOCATE STUDENTS AND STAFF FROM HURLEY HIGH SCHOOL IN VIRGINIA FOLLOWING A RECENT FIRE. PAMELA TESTER PRINCIPAL AT THE SCHOOL SAID TEACHERS AND STAFF WILL WORK THE REST OF THE WEEK, TO MOVE MORE THAN 200 HURLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INTO HURLEY MIDDLE AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, SO STUDENTS CAN CONTINUE LEARNING. STUDENTS RETURNED WEDNESDAY TO PICK UP PERSONAL BELONGINGS. IT’S JUST THE LATEST DISASTER TO HIT THE SCHOOL. HURLEY WAS HIT WITH DEVASTATING FLOODING LAST YEAR, THAT ALSO LEFT STUDENTS AND STAFF DISPLACED.
