1961 - Howlin' Wolf touched down in London to embark on his first tour through Europe.
1991 - Kiss drummer Eric Carr died of cancer at 41. Carr took over drumming duties for the band in 1982 after founding drummer Peter Criss left the group.
1991 - Queen frontman Freddie Mercury died of complications from AIDS at the age of 45.
1991 - Cyndi Lauper married David Thornton.
1994 - At the European MTV Awards, Prince played the song "Peach," claimed it was a "cover tune by a good friend."
