STP Call Off 2009 Dates, Head for Studio
Stone Temple Pilots have decided to postpone the rest of their dates this year in order to focus on “their highly anticipated record, which will be coming out in the early spring of next year,” the group wrote on their website.
The band has recruited Don Was to produce the effort, and frontman Scott Weiland has promised fans the group will hit the road once the new songs are worked out and a new album has been released.
"When we finish the album, there will be a big tour around its release and that will probably be a long tour,” said Weiland.
A lingering road block remains, however, as Atlantic Records claims to still have the band under contract while they insist they're now free agents.
STP will finish the Canadian leg on their current trek, but all concerts scheduled after their November 24th show in Halifax, Ontario have been removed from their site.
